Meet the Chefs

DamariCircle5x5.png

Executive Chef Damari Grant gets his inspiration for Caribbean cuisine from his Haitian father. Chef Grant began his professional kitchen experience in 2012 cooking at Slow restaurant in Berkeley, California. Subsequently, he cooked at Namu Gaji and Belli Osteria, where he was promoted to Sous Chef. In 2014 he took a role as Sous Chef at MICHAEL MINA in San Francisco and oversaw the opening of STRIPSTEAK Waikiki. He served as Executive Sous Chef at Mourad, a role he held until leaving in 2019 for Gibson as Executive Chef. Currently, Chef Grant is the Chef De Cuisine at Savas in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

DeAngelo.png

Chef Grant will be assisted by Sous Chef DeAngelo Walker who adds touches of his mother’s Haitian cooking to the mix. DeAngelo has worked under two Michelin Star chefs and has been trained by Executive Chefs at P. F. Chang’s, Café Zola, and Dessous. He enjoys experimenting with different cooking styles, with a strong tendency toward the classical French style. DeAngelo was born in Detroit and spent summers on a farm in Montgomery, Alabama, learning true appreciation for the term “farm-to-table”.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Online assistance will be provided by Executive Chef Russell Prickett. Chef Russell followed his passion for cooking by enrolling in the Culinary Institute of America in New York. From there, he partnered in a fine dining restaurant in Kingston, NY and worked as a sous chef under a Michelin-trained executive chef. Chef Russell is now an owner and Executive Chef at Post Oak BBQ in Burkburnett, Texas where he takes pride in smoking the best meat possible and making every dish perfect.
